Left hand photo: From the unit on Fertilizers.

The first experimental crop of wheat was sown on Broadbalk, a field in Hertfordshire, England in 1843 and harvested in 1844.  This same field experiment continues today and is used in current research programmes at Rothamsted Research.

A catalytic reforming unit in which benzene and other aromatic hydrocarbons are produced from a mixture of straight chain alkanes (naphtha).

A platinum-rhodium gauze at 1270 K is used as a catalyst in the reaction between ammonia and methane to produce hydrogen cyanide, an intermediate in the production of methyl 2-methylpropenoate.
